Junges Filmfestival Köln / Cinepänz
From October 10 to 15, 2026, the Cologne Youth Film Festival / Cinepänz will bring children’s and youth cinema to the city for the 37th time: The program features more than 30 current feature-length and short films, animated and documentary films, as well as award-winning festival entries, screened at 11 venues throughout Cologne. The festival is aimed at children, teens, families, school classes, daycare groups, and film enthusiasts of all ages. In addition to the screenings, Cinepänz provides opportunities for active engagement and participation: In workshops, young participants learn filmmaking techniques, get a behind-the-scenes look at production processes, or help select the winning films as members of the festival jury. The opening film is “PAPAYA” by Priscilla Kellen, a debut animated film about curiosity, stubbornness, and the quiet rebellion of a seed that refuses to conform to predetermined expectations. The opening will be accompanied by a film discussion, activities, and a hands-on workshop afterward.
