Since 1995, the a cappella comedy quartet LaLeLu has been exploring the boundaries between musical precision and subversive wit. The anniversary show "Best of 30 Years" picks up on this long journey and makes audible how four voices have condensed into an independent body of sound over three decades. Jan, Tobi, Sanna and Frank draw on seventeen full-length programs and weave classics, songs long thought to have disappeared and new songs into a retrospective that is less nostalgic than deliberately reflective of the times. The path from a Hamburg semester party to sold-out stages tells a story of artistic perseverance: political satire, parody and a pinch of anarchic humor have formed the aesthetic foundation since the beginning, supported by stylistic changeability between jazz, pop, opera, Schlager or body percussion. The Cologne edition of the tour shows the quartet in a phase in which experience and joy of playing are equally present and in which vocal craftsmanship finds its comedic counterpart. LaLeLu is not using the anniversary for self-presentation, but for a look at the potential of vocal performance to interweave social observation and playful lightness - a resonance space that can only be opened up with voices and attitude.
