Leonce & Lena

Drama

Or: Why is the world so pissed off?

Leonce and Lena, a play considered a masterpiece of poetic humor, takes a sharp look at the challenges of growing up in an expectation-laden society. Leonce, who hails from the kingdom of Popo, is disillusioned by the expectations placed on him to learn a trade and follow in his father's footsteps, while he is expected to take a role in the political sphere. Lena, on the other hand, from the kingdom of Pippi, is also confronted with the discrepancy of navigating between external role play and inner conviction. Both characters flee their rigid social constraints and meet each other by chance, which leads them to the realization that the pursuit of self-determination and authenticity opens up a new, less stressful path. The play addresses the fact that growing up is more than just a biological phase - it is a decision to balance one's own values with the demands of the world. A thoughtfully staged comedy that invites the viewer to reflect on the essence of adulthood and the constant challenge of finding oneself in the midst of social expectations.
