OUTFRAME FILMFEST invites you to experience cinema as a space for new perspectives, connections, and ways of being together. The festival presents films and other formats for anyone who has ever built their own world or is searching for images that reimagine the concept of belonging.
The focus is on works by and featuring people who have created their own rules, their own images, and their own communities. OUTFRAME FILMFEST turns its attention to stories that emerge from counter-movements: from trial and error, from resistance, from the desire for visibility, and from the need to preserve what might otherwise have been lost.
In doing so, the festival moves across genres, decades, and communities. It presents subculture as a force that transforms society from its margins, and community as an act that opens up new spaces. Beyond the screenings, OUTFRAME FILMFEST views cinema as a collective practice. Workshops and discussions carry the energy from the screen out into the room.
Behind the festival is Countercuts, a Cologne-based project by Lena that views cinema as a critical, queer-feminist, and communal space for experience.
