In his current series, Andreas Helweg returns to "light painting with ships": ships "sail" through the pictures of rivers and canals, leaving behind abstract traces of light, but also creating chaotic patterns on the surface of the water. The ships themselves disappear in the long exposure. The precise night shots create a synthesis of hyperrealism and abstraction:
