The Ransohoff case - women in carnival

Drama

A production by the newly founded theater collective "A3"

The play "The Ransohoff Case - Women in Carnival" sheds light on the exciting and tragic story of Gerti Ransohoff, one of the first female carnival speakers of the Cologne Carnival, who disappeared in 1932 in the midst of social upheaval. Staged by the theater collective "A3", the play offers a profound, reflective examination of the patriarchal structures and racist tendencies that still exist in carnival today. The cultural space for reflection is used to rediscover carnival as a platform for political resistance and to open it up for an equal and inclusive future. A vision of an intersectional, socially just carnival is unfolded that focuses on hopeful utopias.
