Thomas Baumgärtel at 30works in Cologne

Thomas Baumgärtel, also known as the banana sprayer, is presenting his latest works in the exhibition "Urban Positions" at 30works in Cologne. This show opens on 11 January 2025 at 8 pm, accompanied by a laudatory speech by art historian Maria Eicker.

Baumgärtel is a formative figure in German street art and urban art. His artworks, which range from spray-painted packaging boxes to forest pictures and billboard paintings, manifest a critical examination of the themes of consumption and urbanity. He transforms everyday objects into poetic and subversive works of art that reflect both the complexity of urban life and the unmistakable vibrancy and authenticity of the city of Cologne. Baumgärtel's special connection to Cologne, where he works as an artist, is emphasised by his ability to enrich the cityscape with creative expression and profound social discourse. His works have always been a commitment to the freedom and independence of art.

The exhibition "Urban Positions" offers a unique opportunity to discover the facets of his work and to immerse oneself in the dynamic world of contemporary art - a strong statement in favour of the connection between art and urban culture.
