Retrospective of Infinity: Yayoi Kusama at the Museum Ludwig

Yayoi Kusama, one of the most prominent contemporary artists, is honored with a comprehensive exhibition at the Museum Ludwig. Kusama, known for her iconic polka dots and walk-in mirror rooms, offers not only visual stimuli but also profound thematic content with her art.

This show, organized for the museum's anniversary year, provides a unique overview of the Japanese artist's seventy-year oeuvre and presents works that have never been shown in Europe before.

Since Kusama went to the USA in 1957 and became part of the New York art scene in the 1960s, she has continually developed her technique. Her works address existential questions about death, pain, and love, expressed in her distinctive visual language. The highlight of the exhibition is the new Infinity Mirror Room, which allows visitors to immerse themselves in an infinite world of repetition and reflection. Kusama's art not only mirrors her biographical and emotional experiences but also challenges the viewer to engage with their own perception and the great questions of life.
