The so-called Kölner Geisterzug (Cologne Ghost Parade) on February 7th is themed: "Hühste Zick för ne andere Jeist in dr Wunnungspolitik – mir könne nit all em Dom schlofe" As a political demonstration during the Carnival, the parade draws attention to the urgent problems in housing policy. Affordable housing is becoming increasingly rare in Cologne for many, including students, families, and low-income earners. High rents, limited availability, and discrimination exacerbate the situation. The association Ähzebär un Ko e.V. demands with the Geisterzug: Housing is a basic right, not a luxury!
