Dank Augusta

A garden restaurant that is conceived entirely outdoors and yet combines culinary care with atmospheric lightness unfolds its own logic at Flora Köln. Since 2013, Dank Augusta has been developing in a location that only allows a kitchen in the basement and has no indoor spaces - a setting that has demanded creativity and courage. The idea of a picnic concept arose from this special spatial feature: a bag filled with fresh, home-made food and drinks forms the starting point for an individual time-out on the Botanic Garden's spacious south-facing terrace.

Picnic culture in urban greenery

The picnic bag is put together at the bar - with savory and sweet dishes that are seasonal and freshly prepared. Salads or soups in a glass, coffee, cake or a light evening meal can be flexibly combined. The garden restaurant thus remains open for different moments of the day: for a short lunch break, an afternoon of coffee and cake or a relaxed after-work until sunset.

A place for conscious breaks

Spending time on the terrace, framed by the flora of the Flora, offers a decelerated view of the interplay between everyday urban life and botanical space.
