Nativity scene on foot
When did nativity scenes first appear? How did the ox and the donkey end up in the nativity scene? What do the gifts of the Three Wise Men symbolize? We’ll answer these and other questions as we tour some typical nativity scenes. Along the way, you’ll get a sense of the wide range of Cologne’s nativity scene art—from traditional nativity scenes with articulated figures to modern artistic nativity scenes and even “milieu” nativity scenes featuring authentic Cologne characters.
