Wine+City Tour Cologne 2026

More than 200 years ago, the Rhineland actually belonged to France (1794 to 1815). Although it was only 20 years, the French and even Napoleon himself brought the region out of its medieval slumber. You will be amazed at all the reminders of that time and how French Cologne has been ever since. Even the Cologne language has become quite French, as has the tour motto PLÄSIERCHEN, which also comes from the French and means JOY.

On this enjoyable city tour, you will visit 4 historical places in the city center within walking distance. Here you will learn exciting stories, amazing background information and entertaining anecdotes about Cologne.

How many times has Neumarkt been renamed by the French?
What does pumpernickel have to do with Napoleon's horse?
Why do the people of Cologne no longer drink "Kölnisch Wasser" or "Eau de Cologne"?
Garbage collection, registry office, Cologne lights, Cologne meters - all French?

Of course, it will be anything but dry, but you will also enjoy great French and German wines together at each stop along the way. There will also be a snack to get you off to a sparkling start and the French evening will end with a dinner together. A €10 credit is included in the tour price and a nice table is reserved, unless you only book a "pure ticket" without the finale.
