ritual - walks and music
"ritual: music, walks and community" focuses on a practice of conscious listening that combines the concert situation, physical presence and collective attention. The series returns for its second season from June 1 and maintains its monthly rhythm, making each edition a recurring moment of focus. Three very different artistic signatures characterize the summer: Urban Strings interpret baroque mystery sonatas in a contemporary, immersive perspective; Steloolive brings a multi-sensory performance at the interface of electronics, art and fashion to Cologne at JAKI; and Multiple Voices unfold Tallis' monumental work "Spem in Alium" anew in Neu St. Alban with the help of live looping. The newly founded ritual choir adds a participatory level to the format and frames the evenings with world premieres by composer Dariya Maminova. All events are preceded by a joint listening walk that leads visitorsand artistsinto an open research field of perception and understands the concert as a social event that can be read both contemplatively and politically.
