statements Cologne #13

We invite artistic practices that do not (or do not wish to) limit themselves to stretched canvases in their painting: What is the contemporary definition of the term “painting”? What motivates artists to go beyond the boundaries of the canvas? How do material and paint—as the fundamental, defining basis of their practice—relate to their engagement with space and the surrounding environment?

Christof John, Julia Gruner, Lars Breuer, and Christine Reifenberger will present their work in short talks.
The subsequent discussion will be moderated by Ulli Böhmelmann and Nicola Schudy.
