Waiting for the Christ Child
With “Waiting for the Christ Child,” the Zauberflöckchen Children’s Theater brings a musical Christmas story for children ages 3 and up to the stage. The play gets children and adults in the Christmas spirit and invites them to sing along to Christmas carols.
The story centers on the Zauberflöckchen, who is sent to Earth by the angel Angie. There, it must find the missing recipe for Zauberflöckchen cookies. When it finally succeeds, it meets the Spanish rat Ramon and the angel Marie. Together, they help the Zauberflöckchen bring the precious recipe back to heaven.
The story is free of religious references and tells a Christmas tale rooted in everyday life that resonates with children’s experiences. With music, audience interaction, and a warm, engaging narrative style, the production creates a lively theatrical experience for young audiences and their families. In this way, “Waiting for the Christ Child” becomes an atmospheric moment during the Advent season, where everyone can sing together, marvel at the magic, and share in the anticipation of Christmas.
