"Zwillingswelten" at Depot 3 of Schauspiel Köln opens an intellectual expedition into the past and present of simulation. In his solo, Arne Vogelgesang, media artist and lecture performer, unfolds a multi-layered narrative movement that incorporates historical oracle systems as well as digital doubles and experimental models for measuring human and non-human world relationships. The performance takes up phenomena that question the status of reality today: simulations of elementary particles, large-scale weather systems, traffic flows or speech patterns become indicators of a reality that appears increasingly calculated and predicted. Without pause, a discursive space develops in which theater functions as an experimental laboratory - a place where the question of being and appearance can be negotiated not abstractly, but sensually and directly. The co-production with Deutsches Theater Berlin brings a work to Cologne that combines reflection on digital media cultures with subtle humor and precise research, thus opening up a perspective that enables critical reflection as well as a playful approach. The performances in April and May 2026 offer visitors the opportunity to explore the topic of simulated reality in a performative setting and to recalibrate their own view of contemporary technologies.
