Schwimmbad RheinSommergarten
Between the Rhine Cycle Path and the old outlines of what was once the “land-based swimming pool,” a beer garden has opened, combining urban history with a strong connection to nature. After the outdoor pool closed in 1986, the site underwent years of reinterpretation and was revitalized in 1996 as the “Schwimmbad Rhein-Sommergarten.” Today’s design preserves this historic space while also creating an open area for visitors who want to consciously experience summer outdoors.
A Place Where Past and Present Meet
The beer garden is located in Cologne-Riehl, right on the Rhine and nestled among lush greenery. About 550 seats are spread out across lawns and under trees—a setting that allows for contemplation while still feeling sociable. The location away from traffic contributes to a pleasant sense of tranquility, while a playground next door makes the area accessible to families.Regional Brewing Culture and Casual Dining
