Art journey through time: the Art Night at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum

The Art Night at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum is a highlight for art lovers and will take place on 12 October 2024 under the motto ‘Curious? XIX Art Night meets A Museum of Museums’. This event attracts visitors with an innovative guided tour programme for the special exhibition ‘A Museum of Museums’, which contextualises a historical journey from the age of Renaissance cabinets of curiosities to the digital museum. The occasion: the 200th anniversary of the death of Ferdinand Franz Wallraf, whose collections established Cologne's first museum.

Visitors familiar with art history will gain insights into how curators have shaped the reception of art for centuries. In addition to the informative guided tours, performances, interactive activities and selected DJ sets create a lively atmosphere. Cologne's reputation as an innovative and open art centre will be confirmed in many ways during this night, while the interplay of history and modern art invites guests on a cultural and historical exploration. From 11 p.m., the event will culminate in a celebration that impressively celebrates Cologne's colourful diversity and joie de vivre.

Dedicated art education meets a network of experiential and educational programmes, which raises awareness of cultural responsibility and historical contexts.
