Once a month, the Grotte in the Schauspielhaus opens up an experimental playing field where ensemble members and assistants share spontaneous theatrical impulses beyond their regular productions. The first Monday thus becomes a laboratory for readings of favorite texts, newly developed monologues, performative sketches, musical interventions or theatrical miniatures that are only created at that moment. The format thrives on its unpredictability, which is fed by the situational energy of all participants: sometimes humorous, sometimes thoughtful, sometimes improvised, always immediate. Each edition develops its own signature - for example when an actor reinterprets a director's text or when artistic synergies condense into short, idiosyncratic moments on stage. The Grotte offers the perfect setting for this: a reduced space that allows closeness and encourages creative playfulness. GROTTENSCHLECHT thus remains a deliberately open format that makes artistic processes visible and uses the freedom to rethink theater for an evening.
