Kintaro

Flavour and tradition are at the heart of the Kintaro restaurant in Cologne. Since 1988, this Japanese restaurant has presented itself as a bridge between traditional Nippon culture and Rhineland joie de vivre, centrally located in the shadow of Cologne Cathedral. Here, the flavours of the Far East are brought to life by a hand-picked selection of first-class ingredients. The focus is on fish and seafood, which is refined with seaweed and vegetables in combination with typical Japanese spices to create unrivalled creations.

Takusaburo Arakawa, the founder of Kintaro, came to Cologne in 1978 and brought authentic Japanese cuisine to the Rhine. His passion for food culture and the need for high quality standards characterise Kintaro. In 1988, he realised his dream of opening his own restaurant and established Cologne's first sushi restaurant. The sushi bar gives guests a direct insight into the art of Japanese cuisine and ensures a special closeness to the culinary tradition.
