The shelter and the keeper's house are also of interest, as they were the first listed buildings from the Prussian era. None other than the then master builder of Cologne Cathedral, Ernst Friedrich Zwirner, built the architecturally outstanding structure, which closes the circle to the center of Cologne. The keeper's house also functions as a "place of learning" and takes visitors back to the time of ancient Cologne.
The uniqueness and composition of the site, achieved through the commitment and the associated preparation of the site by the Förderverein Römergrab Weiden e. V., was awarded the ADAC Tourism Prize in 2025. A wonderful tribute to the team's dedication to this unique site.
