Reflections on Memory and Home

Cécile Lempert invites in her exhibition "Down Below" to explore the deep layers of memory and loss. Her large-scale paintings draw inspiration from the historical photographs of the Armenian Dildilian family and address the emotional bonds with family and origin. Reinforced by the references from William Golding's "Fire Down Below," a narrative fabric emerges that symbolizes the uncertainties and growth processes of a young man on his journey. By combining photography and painterly sequences, Lempert creates visual narratives that encourage reflections on identity and transience.
